Who ships your wine

STOIC is produced and bottled by McClain Family Cellars of Buellton, California, a licensed winery. When STOIC goes on sale, McClain Family Cellars is the licensed seller of record: it verifies your age, takes your payment, handles state-by-state compliance, and ships the wine. The checkout, the receipt, and the shipping notices you receive will carry its name alongside ours.

Where we can ship

Wine can be shipped to 46 states. Alcohol shipping is governed state by state, and a handful of states do not permit direct shipment of wine to consumers. Checkout will only accept addresses in states where shipment is lawful. We cannot ship to P.O. boxes, and we cannot ship outside the United States.

An adult must sign for it

Federal and state law require that wine be delivered to a person 21 years of age or older, who will be asked to show identification and sign at the door. Carriers cannot leave wine unattended. If nobody 21 or older is available, the carrier will try again; after the final attempt the package is returned to the winery, and re-shipping is charged at cost. A daytime business address is often the easiest place to receive it.

What shipping costs

Shipping is paid by you at checkout, and it is not a flat rate: carriers price by the number of bottles, the destination state and city, and whether the address is a home or a business. Expect roughly $25 to $50 or more for a small order and about $50 to $60 for a case. A single bottle can cost nearly as much to ship as it does to buy, which is why the wine is offered by the pair and the case. The exact figure is shown before you pay.

When it ships, and weather holds

Orders ship from the winery, and you will receive a tracking number by email. Wine is perishable in heat. During extreme weather we may hold a shipment for a few days rather than send it through a hot truck, and we will tell you when we do.

Returns

Alcohol cannot be returned once it has been delivered; that is the law, not a policy of ours. What we can do is make it right when something goes wrong:

• Damaged in transit (broken or leaking bottles): tell us within 14 days of delivery, with a photo, and we will replace the bottles or refund them.
• Wrong wine or wrong quantity: tell us within 14 days and we will send the right order and arrange to collect the wrong one at our expense.
• A faulty bottle (corked or otherwise spoiled): tell us and we will replace it. We will never argue with you about a bottle you did not enjoy opening.

Orders can be cancelled for a full refund at any time before they ship. Refunds go back to the card that paid, through the seller of record.
